The Mini Dells and Grey Cloud Island
We are excited to offer two spectacular new kayak trips on the Mississippi River south of St. Paul!
Lion's Levee
For this super fun trip... you will put in and take out at the same location, Lion's Levee Park in St. Paul Park. Travel the back channels of the Mississippi to see interesting rock outcroppings and islands that bloom with wildflowers in the summer. Watch for eagles, egrets, and beavers. You may choose to travel down and back up through the back channels. Or paddle downstream on the Mississippi's main channel and back up through the backwaters. The trip will take 2-3 hours and is self-guided. So go at your own pace and stop often and enjoy the scenery. We schedule this trip about once a month, but it can also be booked for four or more people any day of the week, as our schedule allows. $59 includes kayak rental, paddle and life vest. We meet you at the start with the kayaks and again at the end. A map is provided to help guide your adventure.
Grey Cloud Island
On this super fun trip... you will put in and take out at Mooers Lake in Cottage Grove and paddle the Grey Cloud Channel up and back. This is an interesting and scenic backwater to explore. This channel was blocked for decades and restored in 2017; now much effort has focused on habitat restoration here in the last few years. Watch for turtles, eagles and other bird species, and native wildflowers. The trip will take 2-3 hours and is self-guided. So go at your own pace and stop often and enjoy the scenery. We schedule this trip about every other Friday, but it can also be booked for four or more people any day of the week, as our schedule allows.$59 includes kayak rental, paddle and life vest. We meet you at the start with the kayaks and again at the end. A map is provided to help guide your adventure.

This super fun trip starts at Lion's Levee Park in St. Paul Park and ends at Mooers Lake Park in Cottage Grove. The trip follows a scenic backwater channel below Lion's Levee to where you'll briefly meet up with the main channel of the Mississippi. Then you'll follow the Grey Cloud Channel to your exit at Mooer's Lake. Because you'll be paddling through backchannels, this is a good route for paddlers of all skill levels and a very interesting area to explore. We schedule this trip about every other Friday, but it can also be booked for four or more people any day of the week, as our schedule allows. $59 includes kayak rental, paddle and life vest. We meet you at the start with the kayaks and again at the end. A map is provided to help guide your adventure.
As with all of our point A to Point B river trips, you will need transportation for yourself at both ends. Most groups use two cars and leave one at the end and carpool to the start.
