Hello-- I’m John Schulte...
Welcome to my kayaking rental and tour guide site.
During much of the spring, summer and fall, I take people out kayaking and paddle boarding.
I show them
cool places that most people don’t even know exist. Most of these
seem 100 miles
away but are right here in the Twin City Metro area. (See pictures below.)
Kayaking is fun and easy to learn...you only need to love to be on the water and exploring.
Some of the good-time things we can do on the water…
- Fun with Friends - Paddle or Float
- Romantic Evening Floating
- Birthday Gift
- Family Vacation Trip
- Family Reunions
- Corporate Team Building
- Employee Reward
- Bachelor Parties
- Bachelorette Parties
- Company coming to the lake home and not enough boats
---- Kayaks and Paddle Boards Delivered to you!!! ---
With my kayak rental program...I deliver the kayaks to you and pick them up when you're done. So you don't have to worry about borrowing a big vehicle or tying them to the top of your car.
All you need to do is rent four kayaks for 2 or more hours.
The cost for non-guided rental is just $15 per hour per kayak during the week, and $18.75 on weekends. This includes the paddle and PFD...and FREE Delivery to the lakes and river runs listed below. (If the place you want kayaks delivered to is not listed, just call/text me for a delivery/pick up quote.)
Free Kayak rental delivery and introduction to kayaking at these lakes.
- Silver Lake, in Columbia Heights- Long Lake, in New Brighton
- Lake Johanna, in Arden Hills
- Lake Josephine, in Roseville
Lake Owasso, in Shoreview
- Turtle Lake, in Shoreview
FREE Delivery and pick up if you are doing the lower portion of the Rice Creek Water trail. CR J (85th) and Lexington to CR I or Long Lake.
FREE Delivery for Mississippi runs between River Park in Brooklyn Park (83rd and West River Road) to any park exit before, or at Boom Island Park.
(Note: Non-guided river and creek rental requires previous paddling experience.)
If you are doing the upper portion of the Rice Creek Water Trail, there is a flat $40 delivery/pick up fee.
Typically, I guide on the Mississippi River between Coon Rapids Dam and Boom Island in Minneapolis, the middle sections of the Rice Creek Water Trail, and the lower sections of the Rum River. Other locations require a phone conversion and custom price quote.
Most guided river trips are around 2-3 hrs. This is dependent on the distance, how much time people like/want to explore... like visiting islands on the river, swimming, having lunch or liquid refreshments...etc. Each trip is really customized to the people going.
NOTE: If you want shore lunch provided and cooked for you, that is extra.
I do put on special group kayak introductions at
some of the local Twin City lakes listed above for a small $20 fee per
participant. (kayaks provided) To be notified of these introductory
events please join the Twin Cities Paddle Club on Facebook. Our current weekly special is on Wednesdays at Lake Johanna 4pm to 8:30pm
If you would like to do a guided kayak trip, I specialize doing the Mississippi River (Since around 1975,) just $59 per person; with a 4 person minimum.
I also do guided trips on the Rice Creek water trail, and sections of the Rum River.
Note: The lower section of Rice Creek (Long Lake to the Mississippi) is dependent on water levels and no reported downed trees.
A $60 dollar deposit is required for all bookings. I run 7 days a week. If you are weekend dependent, book early as these fill out first.
You must be at least 18 years old to rent, have a valid drivers license
or state ID, and a credit card for security deposit. All participants
must sign a rental agreement and liability waiver.
If your trip day has heavy rain, with no real chance of clearing, it will be rescheduled to the next available date.
I accept cash or checks...and also credit cards with a small convenience fee.
If you have any questions, just let me know. 612-708-2781
When you go kayaking with me you 'will' have fun. To me you are more than a customer...you are my guest. That's why so many people go with me over and over again.
