Hello-- I’m John Schulte...welcome to Twin Cities Kayaking; where we deliver kayaks to you and then pick them up.

We have regular featured adventures you can go out on all week, located at cool places that most people don’t even know exist. These wonderful places seem 100 miles away but are right here in the Twin City Metro area. (See our weekly schedule, trip posts and pictures below.)

Kayaking is fun and easy to learn...you only need to love to be on the water and exploring. If you would like to take a beginner paddling lesson, please check out our weekly family special; 'Wednesdays on the Water' event posted below.

With our kayak rental program...we deliver the kayaks to you and pick them up when you're done. So you don't have to worry about borrowing a big vehicle or tying them to the top of your car.

If you have special kayaking requests just let us know. We can offer delivery and pick up of kayaks to many places in the Twin Cities Metro area.

Reservations are required. Please contact us early in your planning process. booking@twincitieskayaking.com Sometimes we can fit in last minute requests, but it's always best to call well in advance of when you want to get on the water. NOTE: Tandem (2 person) kayaks must be reserved a minimum of 24 hrs in advance.

The majority of our outings are very family friendly requiring only basic paddling skills and are self-guided outings. But we can also accommodate those that want a bit more excitement with their adventure or want a guide to go with for breaking trail.

Typically, we guide on the Mississippi River between Coon Rapids Dam and Boom Island in Minneapolis, where we can point out highlights along the way and tell of their significance or history.

Most featured outings are around 3 hrs with the exception of the Rum River which is longer. Special arrangements can be made if you want to make a day of it.

We do put on 2hr beginner paddling lessons on Wednesdays at Lake Johanna in Arden Hills at 1:00 pm for a small $40 fee per participant. (kayaks and PFD's provided) We do have family group pricing for lessons.

Mondays on the Mississippi

Come out and enjoy an evening paddle with us on the river Monday evenings all summer. We begin at 6 pm at River Park in Brooklyn Park and end at Riverfront Regional Park in Fridley.

Choose either a two-hour beginner paddle lesson or a self-guided paddle, just $40 per person.

Wednesdays on the Water – Lake Johanna, beginner paddle lessons 3:00 to 5:00pm $40* and Afternoon Open Rentals – 2-hrs for $20*

*NOTE: Prices listed above reflect a $15 discount for cleaning your own kayak at the end. All supplies furnished. Add $15 to have it cleaned for you.

Frequently Asked Questions:

-- Reservations are required for participation of any outing. If you know the trip you want to do, send your request to: booking@TwinCitiesKayaking.com Include your name, phone, number of people, and the trip you want to do. A confirmation with full details and location map links will be sent to you.

-- We have spaced launch times for social distancing, so your arrival time for launch must be reserved. Late arrivals will go to end of launch line.

-- See TwinCitiesKayaking.com event posts for more detailed descriptions of each outing.

-- All river and creek trips require you to have 2 cars or utilize Uber or another ride share to transport you back to your car.

-- Rentals come with kayak, paddle and Life Jacket (PFD) If you have your own favorite PFD you can bring it.

-- All participants must sign liability waiver. Under 18 must have parental signature.

-- Participants must portage their own kayaks when required for launch or exit.

-- A 50% deposit is required for all reservations that are made 7 days or more in advance or have a group of 6 more people.

-- We run 7 days a week during the summer. If you are weekend dependent, book early as these fill out first.

-- You must be at least 18 years old to rent, have a valid drivers license or state ID, and a credit card for security deposit.

-- If your trip day has heavy rain, with no real chance of clearing, it will be rescheduled to the next available date.

-- We accept cash or checks...and also credit cards but a 3.5% convenience fee will be added.

-- All rentals come with a paddle and life vest.

-- Sit-in, sit-on-top and tandem (2 person) kayaks are available!

-- We only move kayaks, not people. So you must arrange to be picked up at the end of all river trips. Most people use two cars and leave one at the end and carpool to the start; many use Uber and some bike or have friends/family drive them.
