I used twin cities kayaking to start off a bachelor party and had a great time. It let us feel like were up north and having a cabin trip, but after the trip we were in downtown Minneapolis. The guide (john) was great. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for a great time and was an amazing guide. He knows the river like the back of his hand and made sure everyone had a great time. I would highly recomend twin cities kayaking .

I did a kayak lesson with John at lake Johanna on a Thursday afternoon. I very much appreciated John's teaching approach. We started with the basics on shore (e.g. how to hold the paddle) and then off we went into the water to work on paddling and maneuvering the kayak. I had never been kayaking before (other than a quick little try on Key West) however, I have experience with canoeing so maneuvering the kayak came pretty easy to me. I appreciated the fact that John could tailor the lesson to my skill set thus we were able to move into some more advance techniques rather quickly. We even worked on getting in and out of the kayak in the middle of the lake (a good skill set to know)! I truly felt like my time was not wasted nor was I ever bored! I would also like to note that John has a very pleasant and warm demeanor thus I felt very comfortable asking him questions, even those that you think in your head "this feels like a stupid question"! He was always smiling and positive. I...

We had the greatest time kayaking Rice Creek! John's kayaks and paddles are in pristine condition. He gave the 9 of us a refresher on steering before taking group photos of us in and out of the water. Those photos are priceless! My family wants to make this kayak trip every summer now. We loved the scenery and the equipment. I would just recommend that you don't forget the keys to the vehicle you park at the end of the ride in the vehicle you left at the start... (even though he warned us...) John was so kind to take us back to the start. He went beyond to make it a memorable, fun experience for us!

"We Deliver Fun!"

Hello-- I’m John Schulte...

Welcome to my kayaking rental and adventure guide site.

During much of the spring, summer and fall, I take people out kayaking.

I show them cool places that most people don’t even know exist. Most of these wonderful places seem 100 miles away but are right here in the Twin City Metro area. (See pictures below.)

Kayaking is fun and easy to learn...you only need to love to be on the water and exploring.

Some of the good-time things we can do on the water…

- Fun with Friends - Paddle or Float
- Romantic Evening Floating
- Birthday Gift
- Family Vacation Trip
- Family Reunions
- Corporate Team Building
- Employee Reward
- Bachelor Parties
- Bachelorette Parties
- Company Coming to the lake home and not enough boats

---- Kayaks and Paddle Boards Delivered to you!!! ---

With my kayak rental program...I deliver the kayaks to you and pick them up when you're done. So you don't have to worry about borrowing a big vehicle or tying them to the top of your car.

All you need to do is have four people total in your group to rent four kayaks for 2 or more hours.

The cost is just $15 per hour per kayak during the week, and $18.75 on weekends. This includes the paddle and PFD...and FREE Delivery to the lakes and river runs listed below. (If the place you want kayaks delivered to is not listed, just call/text me for a delivery/pick up quote.)

(FREE Guide Service on the Mississippi or Lower sections of Rice Creek when you rent 4 or more kayaks for 3 or more hours. Regular guide service is $60 per hour.)

Free Kayak rental delivery and introduction to kayaking at these lakes.
- Silver Lake, in Columbia Heights
- Long Lake, in New Brighton
- Lake Johanna, in Arden Hills
- Lake Josephine, in Roseville

(Join this facebook group for the latest lesson dates and times. https://www.facebook.com/groups/TwinCitiesPaddleClub)

FREE Delivery and pick up if you are doing the lower portion of the Rice Creek Water trail. i.e. Long Lake to the Mississippi, or 85th and Lexington to CR I or Long Lake.

FREE Delivery for Mississippi runs between River Park in Brooklyn Park (83rd and West River Road) to any park exit before, or at Boom Island Park.

If you are doing the upper portion of the Rice Creek Water Trail, there is a flat $40 delivery/pick up fee.

My personal guide service is just $60 per hour, Monday through Friday, and $75 per hour on Saturday, Sundays and Holidays.  This rate is for up to five people with a minimum of three hours.

Typically, I guide on the Mississippi River between Coon Rapids Dam and Boom Island in Minneapolis, and the Lower Sections of the Rice Creek Water Trail. Other locations require a phone conversion and custom price quote.

Most guided river trips are at least 3 hrs. This is dependent on the distance, how much time people like/want to explore... like visiting islands on the river, swimming, having lunch or liquid refreshments...etc. Each trip is really customized to the people going.

NOTE: If you want shore lunch provided and cooked for you, that is extra.

Maximum number of people I take at one time for this rate is 5 people.

If you want to go with me on a river, or faster creek trips, you must have some prior kayaking experience or have gone through at least one hour of kayaking introduction with me.

I do put on special group kayak introductions at some of the local Twin City lakes listed above for a small $20 fee per participant. (kayaks provided) To be notified of these introductory events please join the Twin Cities Paddle Club on Facebook.

If you would like to do a guided kayak trip, I specialize doing the Mississippi River (Since around 1975,) and the Rice Creek water trail.

Note: The lower section of Rice Creek (Long Lake to the Mississippi) is dependent on high water, that means the spring, or after very heavy rains.

A $60 dollar deposit is required for all bookings. I run 7 days a week. If you are weekend dependent, book early as these fill out first.

You must be at least 18 years old to rent, have a valid drivers license or state ID, and a credit card for security deposit. All participants must sign a rental agreement and liability waiver.

If your trip day has heavy rain, with no real chance of clearing, it will be rescheduled to the next available date.

I accept cash or checks.

If you have any questions, just let me know.

When you go kayaking with me you 'will' have fun. To me you are more than a customer...you are my guest. That's why so many people go with me over and over again.

If you're not ready to book a date but want to meet others with similar interests, come and join the Twin City Paddle Club group I manage: https://www.facebook.com/groups/TwinCitiesPaddleClub
